Tournament Rules
This is a Hockey Sask sanctioned tournament T036-25 and all Hockey Canada/Hockey Sask rules will apply other than as amended herewith,
Registered Hockey Sask referees will be utilized, and their decisions are final in all matters pertaining to rules interpretation assessment of penalties and awarding of goals and assists. Please note that the tournament committee puts in a request to Prince Albert Referees Association for game officials. The Referees Association assigns the officials and the tournament committee does not have any influence in who is assigned to a particular game.
Game Timing: Games shall commence five (5) minutes after the beginning of the allotted start time. The first and second periods will be twenty (20) minutes running time. The third period will be twenty (20) minutes running time, with the last two (2) minutes being stop time. There will be a 2 minute break between periods. Teams are to remain on the ice. During the third period, if the goal spread is five (5) goals or greater, running time will be in effect. Stop time will be back in effect if the goal spread reverts to less than five goals.
Any player, coach or team official assessed a match penalty or a gross misconduct, will be suspended for the balance of the tournament. All suspensions will follow Hockey Sask minimum suspension guidelines.
Timing of Penalties:
Running Time- Minor: Three(3) / Major: Seven(7) / Misconduct: Fifteen(15)
Stop Time - Minor: Two (2) / Major: Five (5) / Misconduct: Ten(10)
THERE WILL BE NO OVERTIME IN POOL PLAY.
Tie standings in pool play will be decided by Hockey Sask General Regulation 3.08.01.
Overtime Play teams will play 3 on 3 (3 players and 1 goalie) until the game is decided.
Overtime Penalties in the event there is a penalty called, the team not getting the penalty shall put an extra attacker on the ice and play 4 on 3 until the penalty expires. At the first stoppage after the penalized player returns to the ice, the teams will revert back to 3 on 3. At no time does a team play with less than 3 players. In overtime, teams can only be one man short. Further penalties commence on order of previous penalty expiration.
The Tournament Committee reserves the right to alter the timing of games or draw procedures in the event of difficulties in meeting arena allotments.
Time outs: Each team shall be permitted one 30 second time out in the stop time portion of a game only.
Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players at all times, both on and off the ice. Rules are to be made clear to the players by the coach and/or manager.
The Tournament Committee will rule on any and all disputes and their decision is final and binding. The committee reserves the right to suspend any player or team official from further participation in the tournament for disorderly or unsportsmanlike conduct on or off the ice.
The Tournament Committee has the authority to ask any person to leave the arena if that person is physically, verbally abusing or harassing an on ice official. PAH has a zero tolerance policy and coaches are to remind their parents to support the players and officials in a positive manner.
